Q1-2025 WA Qlik User Group Meetup

Qlik Innovations, Apache Iceberg & Customer'sUse case: Highlights from WA Qlik User Group’s First 2025 Meetup

In the final week of March, the WA Qlik User Group hosted the first event of the year at the vibrant DoubleTree by Hilton in Perth Northbridge. The venue buzzed with excitement as Qlik enthusiasts, data professionals, and analytics leaders came together for an evening of insights, innovation, and inspiration.

The agenda was packed with thought-provoking presentations from three outstanding speakers:

Ajay Kumar (Qlik), Senior Solution Architect, APAC
Ajay opened the evening with “What’s New in Qlik”, sharing the latest product innovations and a preview of what’s ahead in the Qlik roadmap. From enhanced analytics to smarter data integration, his session set the tone for a future-forward evening.

Boon Keat Law (Boon Solutions), Managing Director & Lead Principal
Next up, Boon Keat delivered a deep dive into Apache Iceberg—explaining what it is, when to use it, and why it’s becoming essential for scalable, cloud-native analytics. His session sparked plenty of questions and interest around big data architecture.

Justin Drummond (IGO Ltd), Senior Biochemist
Closing the night, Justin shared a fascinating real-world case study on using Qlik Sense to enhance QA/QC processes in mining lab assays. His talk offered a fresh perspective on how advanced analytics can drive quality and efficiency in scientific workflows.

A huge thank you to our amazing speakers, organisers, and the incredible Qlik Community for making the event a success. We’re thrilled to see so much passion and curiosity in our local data scene and can’t wait for what’s next.
